Light which reflects from flat surfaces becomes polarized i.e. the light goes from omnidirectional to horizontal. Polarized light is 10 to 100 times more intense than omnidirectional sunglight and causes blinding glare which leads to discomfort, blurred vision and eye strain. The chemical filter on polarized lenses is designed to filter horizontal light whilst allowing vertical waves to pass through. Because light in only one direction passes through polarized lenses, glare is neutralized. Polarized lenses eliminate glare, increase visual clarity, enhance contrasts and reduce eye strain.
